He requested a ‘Very Superior Old Pale’ from the Maison Hennessy, the first shipment was made in 1818. Cocktail Recipes


OLD FASHIONED 50ml Hennessy VSOP 20ml Simple Syrup 2 dashes Angostura Bitters 1 orange zest Put bitters into an Old-Fashioned glass filled with ice cubes. Add a splash of water and the syrup. Pour in the Hennessy V.S.O.P slowly. Garnish with a twist of orange.	MINT JULEP 50ml Hennessy VSOP 8 Mint Leaves 15ml Simple Syrup Fresh mint Place the mint leaves in a tall Julep glass and gently press with a pestle to release flavours. Add the other ingredients along with crushed ice. Mix vigorously. Complete with crushed ice to fill and garnish with a sprig of mint.	VIEUX CARRE 30ml Hennessy VSOP 30ml Sweet Vermouth 30ml Bourbon Whisky 1 dash Angosture Bitter 1 dash Peychaud Bitter 5ml Benedictine 1 orange zest Fill a mixing glass 2/3 full with ice. Pour in the ingredients and stir for 8 seconds. Strain and pour into glass. Garnish with orange zest.	SIDECAR 50ml Hennessy VSOP 15ml Cointreau 15ml Lemon Juice 1 orange zest Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker and fill with ice cubes. Shake vigorously until well mixed and well chilled. Strain into glass and garnish with orange zest.

LEGACY

Cognac, 1765. Irishman, Richard Hennessy founded a trading house that his descendants have continued to shape, over eight generations. In 1800, the Fillioux family began expertly crafting the Cognacs for the Hennessys, sealing a bond that remains strong to this day. In 1817, The Prince of Wales, later King George IV of Great Britain, a great cognac connoisseur asks Hennessy to create a “very superior old pale” cognac.
